Diablo 4 Season 4 Leaks: Release Date, Patch Notes, Wishlists & Preparations

2/15/2024 11:09:56 AM

Diablo 4 Season 4 is on the way. Being prepared with resources, experience with leveling paths, and coordinated group plans helps get the most out of the fresh economy and challenges of a new Diablo 4 season launch. Read our D4 Season 4 leaks, we'll focus on the release date, changes, wishlists, and how to prepare!

D4 Season 4 Release Date

The Diablo 4 Season 4 release date according to the PCGamesN article is Tuesday, April 16th, 2024. The article states that Season 4 is scheduled to begin at around 10am PDT/1pm EDT/6pm BST on April 16th, continuing the typical pattern for Diablo seasons where each new season launches on the same day that the previous one ends. By following this trend, the release date provided indicates that Season 4 will start once Season 3, known as the Season of the Construct, concludes its roughly three-month cycle.

D4 Season 4 Patch Notes

Aspects will be removed from D4 items and instead controlled solely through the Codex system. This allows full customization without stash/inventory issues. Main stats on items like Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence etc. will be removed. Items will instead focus exclusively on attributes and skills/abilities. Multi-modding of items (having multiple desired mods on one item) will be heavily curtailed. Items will predominantly have just 1-2 major offensive or defensive mods.

Item budgets/affix allocation will be reworked so fewer items drop with max rolls. Items will be more about having desired affix combinations rather than max stat rolls. Legendary powers will be changed to be more build-defining rather than providing just raw stats. Sets may be weakened or removed to elevate legendary itemization. Item leveling/upgrading is being removed, with attributes scaling directly with character level/region instead of item level requirements. Targeted farming changes are coming to make obtaining specific legendary powers or attribute combinations less reliant on randomness.

D4 Season 4 Wishlists

Address Uber Grind Limitations:

The current reliance on repeating the Dual boss fight hundreds of times to target specific Ubers is seen as too repetitive and not friendly to solo players. Adding new endgame bosses that each drop 1-2 specific Ubers would allow targeting the Ubers wanted for builds. Placing Uber drops in T100 dungeons respects the goal of pushing character power there and provides an alternative solo path.

Bring Back Past Seasonal Content:

Rotating old seasonal content like Blood Seekers and vampire events into dungeons regularly would maintain variety between seasons. It increases randomized challenges and choices during runs by introducing temporary mini-events. Tying their drops to objectives like specific boss summoning materials provides purpose to engage with them beyond avoiding. Keeps content introduced before fresh each rotation.

Overhaul Helltide:

While Helltide offers good rewards, it lacks the dynamic, threatening events that made Blood Harvest so engaging. Requests include portals spawning additional demons, mini-bosses on the map, and beefing up the Kicks boss fight. Suggestions aim to add more context switches, danger, and competition for spawn points during the zone to interrupt the normal grind loop.

Buff High Level Content:

Currently difficulties plateau and endgame feels too easy as gear improves. Requests to raise max monster levels, difficulties, and rewards in later zones/dungeons respects the goal of continued scaling challenge. World bosses in particular are requested to pose more of a threat relative to player power to recapture that feeling of threat from early levels.

Add Build Management:

As character customization increases, tools to manage multiple viable builds per character are needed. Whether through loadouts, item loadouts independent of stashes, or similar systems, easing respecs supports experimentation without punishing mistakes as complex as Last Epoch are not expected but the goal is versatility.

How To Prepare For D4 Season 4?

  • Stock up on crafting materials, gems, essences, etc. Having resources on hand will help speed gearing a new seasonal character.

  • Organize stash tabs and remove any unwanted gear/items to free up space. The new season will likely bring new loot.

  • Level an alt character through the story now if you haven't yet. Having the story skip available on one character saves time leveling in Season 4.

  • Research top Season 4 builds online and decide what character/class you want to level. Having an actionable build plan is helpful.

  • Practice leveling routes and efficiency. Know the fastest way to progress your character through acts and leveling steps.

  • Coordinate with friends or clan on leveling strategy - who will power level, farm what, etc. Collaboration facilitates quick progression.

  • Power level a fresh character to a high paragon level now to bank experience for Season 4 boosts.

  • Keep an eye on developer updates pre-season for any teased new mechanics or rewards to focus on.
