Rocket League Fall Update 2020 - F2P, Cross-Platform, Rocket Pass 7, New Competitive Season Ranks and More

9/16/2020 11:07:20 AM

Finally, the cat is out of the bag! On Tuesday, September 15, 2020, those responsible behind Rocket League revealed the date for the free-to-play switch and more details about the upcoming big update in this early Autumn!

It was previously indicated that we can expect the big summer update "in mid-September" and the F2P changeover shortly thereafter. Now this finally has a date: In almost exactly one week, next Wednesday, September 23, 2020, the time will come. On this day, Rocket League will experience the most important change in the history of the title. It's about cross-platform progression, new challenges, a revised in-game tournament format, and of course the free version of Rocket League itself. Pretty much everything will change in a week for the players on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and of course the PC - more recently for all newcomers but via the Epic Games Store.

Big Rocket League Update For Free To Play & Cross-Platform

The fans have been waiting impatiently for news and specific information for several weeks after the sixth Rocket Pass ended on August 31, but the season remained active. The requests from fans were repeatedly put off until a later date. As the announcement announced on Tuesday, the Rocket League Free To Play changeover will take place next Wednesday, September 23, 2020, at 8 a.m. PDT (3 p.m. UTC).

In preparation for the big changes to Rocket League, the update will be installed on the servers tomorrow, Wednesday, September 16, at 9 a.m. PDT (4 p.m. UTC). It is said that there is a lot that the fans can look forward to tomorrow and next week. There is even a new in-game event called "Llama-Rama" just around the corner, which should start shortly after the updates in the game.

Rocket League Cross-platform Progress (16th September)

Another feature will be introduced in Rocket League. It's the cross-platform advancement. Regardless of which platform you are on, you can access your profile.

Just log into your Epic Games account on our account linking page, which will be available from tomorrow, and select your primary platform - the platform on which you have the highest rank and the most XP. You can then take your inventory, your rank, your XP and your progress in the Rocket Pass with you wherever you play Rocket League.

Rocket League New Competitive Season & Ranks Start On September 23rd

Another component of the new update is new Rocket League Competitive Season 1 with new ranks. At the beginning of the free publication, the rank Grand Champion is divided into the three ranks Grand Champion I, Grand Champion II and Grand Champion III. They are in turn subordinate to the new top tier Supersonic Legend.

Rocket League Rocket Pass 7 Start On September 23rd

With the Rocket League free to play on all platforms worldwide on September 23rd, the restructured Rocket League Season 1 will start, at the same time Competitive Seasons, Competitive Tournaments, and Rocket Pass will all follow the same schedule. So it means Rocket Pass 7 will start on September 23rd, 2020, will no longer be numbered on its own and instead be an extension of the Season. But surely, we will still get some excellent Rocket League items from the new season.
