Rocket League Rocket Pass Level Up Time Calculated - How Long Will It Take To Unlock All Rocket Pass Tiers?

9/12/2018 6:12:49 PM

Psyonix anticipated it would take Rocket Pass owners around 100 hours of gameplay to unlock everything in the Pass. Events like double XP weekends can help players fly through levels as well, making unlocking items easier. But how long will it exactly take to unlock all tiers and Rocket Pass 2 Rewards without spending any Rocket League keys? Keep reading, you will get some clue in this guide!

Rocket League Rocket Pass Unlock Tiers Time

Although every player has 82 days (Sept 5th to Nov 26th is 82 days) to unlock all the Rocket Pass 1 Tiers, but who don’t want to get the top tiered rewards as soon as possible? So many players are complaining it’s hard to level up in Rocket Pass and trying to figure out how much time it would take to unlock all tiers. Now we get some good ideas about the total time required for Rocket Pass thanks to u/BlueRajasmyk2's post on Reddit.

BlueRajasmyk2 made a deeply analysis and calculated the time to fully complete the Rocket Pass that accounts for solo/group XP bonuses, bonus XP at different tiers, weekly win bonuses, and match scores! Below we present all the details of his post:

Current  Time To  Unlock One Tier For Pro/Free Rocket Pass Without Bonuses

Current Results

The final result differs depending on whether or not you play mostly in parties, since being in a party gives you from 15% (without Pro Rocket Pass) to 35% (with Pro + Tier 60) bonus.

Pro Rocket Pass

Tier 70Tier 90
With group5.8 matches/day (37.6 mins/day)7.9 matches/day (51.3 mins/day)
Without group6.7 matches/day (43.5 mins/day)9.2 matches/day (59.8 mins/day)

Free Rocket Pass

Tier 70Tier 90
With group9.6 matches/day (62.2 mins/day)13.4 matches/day (87.2 mins/day)
Without group11.0 matches/day (71.6 mins/day)15.4 matches/day (100.3 mins/day)

So the total time for tier 70 is 51.3 to 97.9 hours, and the total time for tier 90 is 70.1 to 137.0 hours

Future Time To Unlock One Tier For Pro/Free Rocket Pass With XP Bonuses

Future Results

In the near future, the math changes a bit because Psyonix has said they're changing Weekly Win bonuses to a flat +2500 XP per game, rather than +200%. This makes them both more consistent and slightly more valuable.

With this change, the results are:

Pro Rocket Pass

Tier 70Tier 90
With group5.5 matches/day (35.8 mins/day)7.6 matches/day (49.6 mins/day)
Without group6.4 matches/day (41.4 mins/day)8.9 matches/day (57.8 mins/day)

Free Rocket Pass

Tier 70Tier 90
With group8.3 matches/day (54.1 mins/day)11.6 matches/day (75.6 mins/day)
Without group10.5 matches/day (68.1 mins/day)14.9 matches/day (96.8 mins/day)

So the total time for tier 70 will be 48.9 to 93.1 hours, and the total time for tier 90 will be 67.8 to 134.8 hours

More Things We Can Take In Consider To Calculate The Total Time

Assumptions

- Rocket pass length is 82 days (Most sources say it's 90 days, but Sept 5th to Nov 26th is only 82)

- The player starts at tier 1, meaning they need to rank up 89 times to reach tier 90.

- The total average base XP per 5-minute game: 1105 XP.

- Since the vast majority of XP comes from time-played, and overtime counts, having a lot of games end early or go into overtime doesn't affect the overall time requirement very much. Thus, to keep things simple, we assume each match lasts exactly 5 minutes. A five-minute match is worth 1050 base XP.

- Win ~ half your games. Since wins are worth 50XP, that's an average of +25XP per game

- Average ~300 points per game = 30 XP. Since points are worth so little XP, it doesn't make a big difference if your average is significantly higher/lower than this.

- We'll assume this actually takes an average of 6.5 minutes to earn, with the extra 90 seconds for finding the match, loading screens, goal replays, and round starts.

- We're assuming all weekly win bonuses get used up by the player. While the weekly wins (both currently and in the future) give a fixed amount of average XP, when they happen matters because it affects when the player earns the XP bonuses. There's 82*2=164 weekly win bonuses over the course of the Rocket Pass, which I tried to spread out evenly. For my calculations, I assumed the player used 2 weekly wins per level for the first 75 levels, then 1 per level for the last 14. For the tier 70 case, I instead assumed the player used 3 per level for the first 26 levels, then 2 per level for the remaining 43.

- To calculate all this, I made a big spreadsheet that calculated the required XP at each tier, and accounted for the bonuses you'd be getting at that tier.

How XP s Work In Rocket Pass For Leveling Up Tiers

Free pass gets +15% Party XP . Pro gets that, and +50% XP , and unlocks the following:

Tier 4: +10% party XP
Tier 10: +5% XP
Tier 23: +5% XP
Tier 32: +5% XP
Tier 38: +5% XP
Tier 45: 10k XP
Tier 50: +5% XP
Tier 54: 10k XP
Tier 60: +5% Party XP
Tier 65: +5% XP

"+X% XP " increases your XP by that percentage, always.

"+X% Party XP " increases your XP by that percentage when you're in a party. Despite the name, it does not increase the XP of your party members. It doesn't matter if your party mates have Pro Rocket Pass or not, nor how many party mates you have.

"+200% Weekly Win Bonus" is a special bonus. You get two of these every day, up to a maximum of 14 (which is where "weekly" comes from). When you win, +200% is added to your bonus, and one of your Weekly Win Bonuses is consumed. AFAIK there's no way to see how many you have saved up in the UI.

The s combine additively ie. +200% XP and +50% XP and +15% Party XP is +265% total .

There will be double XP weekends, though we haven't had one yet. Though no one knows for sure yet, the assumption is that this will double your XP after s, rather than just adding an additional +100% .
